What is the Riverfront Freedom Memorial? The purpose of the Riverfront Freedom Memorial is to commemorate those who have made possible the freedoms enjoyed throughout Central Illinois and the United States of America.One the perimeter of the Memorial, five flags will fly the colors of each of the five branches of the military service. The centerpiece of the Memorial will be an 80' American flag. The ground surrounding the pole
will feature an 800 square foot memorial courtyard.
At the courtyard's center will be a large five-pointed
star surrounded by brick pavers. These pavers will
be engraved with the names or messages of those to whom
this memorial is dedicated. |
